Les designers lauréats des "Brit Insurance Design of the Year awards" sont enfin connus... A suivre ou à découvrir sur http://www.designsoftheyear.com et au Design Museum de Londres. Quelque cent projets de design avaient été retenus (et sont exposés, au grand complet, dans l'enceinte du Design Museum jusqu’au 27 avril, parmi lesquels sept se sont vus décernés des prix du meilleur design dans les sections architecture, mode, mobilier, graphisme, expérience interactive, produit et transport.

Le prix de la catégorie mode "Design of the year" est revenu au couturier Hussein Chalayan (décidément grand favori du Design Museum de Londres, qui lui consacre cette année une exposition monographique) pour sa collection "Airborne automne/hiver 2007". C'est aux architectes suisses Herzog & De Meuron, pour leur réalisation du "Beijing National Stadium" que le trophée du meilleur projet en design architectural a échu. Le travail du designer Martino Gamper, "100 Chairs in 100 Days", s'est vu couronné du prix de la catégorie mobilier.

"The design world’s Oscars"

The world’s most interesting and forward looking designs have been nominated for the Brit Insurance Design Awards by industry experts spanning seven categories: architecture, fashion, furniture, graphics, interactive, product and transport. This 91 shortlisted designs are on display in the Brit Insurance Designs of the Year exhibition. From this comprehensive list, a panel has decided the category winners in each of the seven disciplines. These finalists will go forward to vie for the 2009 Brit Insurance Design of the Year to be judged by a panel, chaired by Alan Yentob and including the designer and environmentalist Karen Blincoe, and the architect Peter Cook. This exhibition will be open until 7pm on 15, 16 + 17 May
